The Fox Talbot Award was established in 1979 at Tokyo Polytechnic University Junior College to serve as a gateway for young artists passionate about photographic expression and to foster photographers with an international perspective. This year marks its 47th edition.
This award honors the achievements of William Henry Fox Talbot (1800–1877), the inventor of the negative-positive process and father of modern photography. With the cooperation of the Fox Talbot Museum in the UK, the award bears his name. Eligible applicants are current students of the university and young graduates within 10 years of graduation. Winning works will be permanently preserved as part of the Photography University Gallery Collection.
We invite you to view the expressions of young talent aspiring to become photographers.
